What am I doing now?

I've been extremely lucky to be able to go on some really incredible journeys, and I'm often asked, "What now?"

Well, here you go, my 'What am I doing now?' page.

I'll be updating it regularly to let you know what's going on 'Now'.

New Charity

It seems, like many, I had a very busy lockdown. I completed a couple of jigsaws, attempted to learn Welsh, and tried to work out in my dining room! But my biggest achievement during the summer of  2020, apart from not killing my immediate family, was setting up a new charity.

I've been working with Dr Marlize DeVivo and a team of trustees to launch The Active Pregnancy Foundation - we support women to stay active throughout pregnancy and beyond, by providing expertise and guidance, changing culture and challenging policy.

It's a passion project born from my own experiences during pregnancy, and it's an honour and a privilege to volunteer my time to get this amazing initiative off the ground.

First Women

Mum and I were invited to feature in a ground breaking new portrait exhibition - First Women

Photographer, Anita Corbin shot 100 iconic portraits of 21st century women who have achieved the landmark title “First Woman” across a range of fields.

The exhibition showed at the RCA in London, but is now on a UK tour

Proud and honoured, but these words just don't cut it! It's such a privilege to be amongst these 100 notable women.

Children's Book

UPDATE!

The book is written and I have an agent. Next step - publishers. Cross everything. Have to say I've really loved the process so far, and I think I have a couple more stories in me. Just need to sit down for more than 5mins and get fingertips to typewriter!

Tough Girl Podcast

LIFE AFTER ROWING

A few years ago Sarah Williams set up the Tough Girl Podcast to give a voice to adventurous female and highlight them as role models in an industry once dominated by men - she invited me to be one of her first interviewees. It's been HUGELY successful and inspired many thousands of women to go out and give adventure a go.

It's been a while since I talked to her about my ocean rows, and we both thought it would be great to discuss the numerous expeditions since then. If you fancy it my 'Extra Episode' is out NOW!

The Moment

There must be something in the water! The story of my ocean row with Mum seems to be tickling people's fancy right now! So much so that Broadcaster, Maxine Mawhinney invited me onto her new show 'The Moment'.

Check out the interview and also take a look at some of her other guests including singer, Nadine Coyle & author, Kathy Lette.

Girlguiding

I'm an Ambassador for Girlguiding in London & the South East Region, so you can imagine my excitement when Girlguiding HQ invited me to be part of their Adventures at Home Festival.

With so many young women and girls unable to attend their Rainbow, Brownie, Guide or Ranger units, Girlguiding have been posting fun and adventurous content online. The Festival was part of that initiative.

NATPE - Miami

So, this week I'll be flying over to the Miami for the NATPE (National Association of Television Program Executives) conference. Ridiculously excited! Not only will it be warm, but it's also a chance to see what's going on in the industry right now.

If you're out there, do drop me a line to say hi, and perhaps hook up, otherwise check out my Presenter Showreel to see why I'm going!

Soroptimist Conference 2018

HUGE thanks to Soroptimist International Great Britain & Ireland for inviting me along to speak at their 84th Federation Conference in Liverpool.

So inspired by the women there and absolutely intend to twin my toilet in time for International Toilet Day on November 19th!
